Texcare Asia, the International Trade Fair for Modern Textile Care, will take place in Hong Kong next year from May 9 –11, at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center. Held once every four years, the event attracted over 2,500 trade visitors in Singapore for the 1998 show.
The 2002 event in Hong Kong is expected to cover around 6,000 square meters and house approximately 100 manufacturers displaying textile care related products and services, for all aspects of the laundry and dry cleaning industries.
Currently, US and European manufacturers lead the field in terms of automation and environmental awareness in textile care products and machinery, and their advanced technology is much sought after in the Asian markets. The growth of tourism in Asia has necessitated rapid upgrading of facilities and practices, alongside acknowledgement of the need for energy-efficiency and eco-friendliness.
In addition to Hong Kong’s central location at the hub of Asia and South China, it also has one of the highest rates of import and re-export for textile care-related products and machinery in the region. In 2000, the value of washing machine, dry-cleaning machine, drying machine and ironing machine / press imports into Hong Kong topped USD 90.5 million. With over 4,000 new hotel rooms in 12 hotels planned before the end of 2003, and the trend towards environmentally-friendly laundry practices adopted by many of the major hotel chains, the market is set for significant expansion.
Last June Texcare 2000 attracted over 17,000 international, trade visitors and 258 exhibitors to Frankfurt for the five-day show. For more information on Texcare Asia 2002, visit www.texcare.de email
