Hotel reservations open Aug. 8 for the Clean ’09 trade show in New Orleans June 18-21, 2009. Special rates to meet every pocketbook are available at 18 New Orleans hotels. All are accessible to the French Quarter, the casino, and within 1.5 miles of Morial Convention Center.
Complimentary shuttle buses will transport attendees between official hotels and the convention center mornings and afternoons. Shuttle stops will be within a short walking distance of each hotel.
Each of the show’s six sponsoring associations selected a headquarter hotel for its organization. ALM will convene at the Omni Royal Orleans. CLA will headquarter at the Astor Crowne Plaza. DLI chose Hotel Monteleone. TCATA’s headquarter hotel is the Hilton Riverside. TRSA will convene at the New Orleans Sheraton. UTSA selected the New Orleans Marriott.
In addition to the headquarter hotels, 12 other properties will provide “general housing” accommodations for Clean Show attendees. They are Country Inn & Suites, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn Convention Center, Holiday Inn French Quarter, Iberville Suites at Ritz-Carlton, International House, Loews, Residence Inn, The Ritz-Carlton, Royal Sonesta, St. Christopher Best Western, and the W hotel. A 19th hotel will be announced in the fall.
“New Orleans hotels are refurbished, fresh, and better than ever,” said John Riddle, president of Riddle & Associates, the show’s management company. “I think people will be very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the city looks, particularly in the French Quarter, the Central Business District and the Arts/Warehouse District adjacent to the convention center.”
Detailed information about each hotel is available Aug. 8 on the Clean ‘09 web site (http://www.cleanshow.com). Rates for single/double rooms range from $99 to $189. To receive Clean ‘09 discounts, reservations must be made through the Housing Bureau on the web site, by phone at 1-800-424-5250 or 1-847-940-2153, by fax at 1-800-521-6017 or 1-847-940-2386, or by mail to Clean ‘09 Housing Bureau, c/o Experient, 568 Atrium Drive, Vernon Hills, IL 60061-1731 USA. An exception is the Hotel Monteleone for which reservations should be made directly with the hotel, 1-800-535-9595 or 1-504-523-3341. When making any reservation, identify the hotel and sponsor block in which you wish to be included.
Deadline for hotel reservations is May 15, but making reservations early offers the best opportunity to be confirmed at a preferred hotel. Information about suites is available through the Housing Bureau. A $150 deposit per room is required to confirm a reservation. The Housing Bureau accepts checks, money orders (both must be drawn in US funds on a US bank), and major credit cards. Deposits are not refundable for cancellations made after May 15.
Air fare and car rental specials are available through the show’s official travel service: Globetrotter Travel, 888-447-7432, or 301-570-0800, press “1”; fax: 301-570-9514; online: http://www.globetrottermgmt.com/cleanshow.

Ecolab Acquires Dober Chemical’S Textile Care Business
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Ecolab Inc. a leader in cleaning, sanitizing, food safety and infection prevention products and services announced it has purchased the commercial laundry division of Dober Chemical Corporation. The acquisition includes Dober’s laundry chemical and waste water treatment and Ultrax dispensing businesses as well as an exclusive partnership to market and provide key components of its Spindle monitoring software.
“Dober is respected throughout the industry for its innovative monitoring technology, product chemistry and commitment to service – qualities that complement our own strengths at Ecolab,” said Brian Henke, vice president and general manager, Ecolab Textile Care North America. “As we expand our North American commercial laundry business, innovation and service excellence will continue to be our top priority as we partner with our customers to deliver unsurpassed value to run their operations more efficiently, sustainably and cost effectively.”
“Ecolab and Dober share the same customercentric approach to service and innovative technology,” said John Dobrez, president Dober Chemical Corp. “This is an exciting development because it builds on the strengths of both companies to move the industry forward.”
Through this agreement, Spindle Technologies,a division of Dober, is forming a strategic alliance with Ecolab Textile Care in an exclusive licensing agreement for its ChemWatch Software technology and the OPTRAX Utility Module.
“There will be no movement of people as they currently all operate remotely,” said Henke. “The Dober leadership team is very skilled and respected in the industry. We plan to have them as part of the team moving forward. During the transition, both businesses will operate as usual and we do not expect there to be any changes in the service the customers are used to receiving.”
