Even in an uncertain economy, Clean ’09 is proceeding as planned with registration opening on the show’s Web site.
“Currently we’re very thankful,” says John Riddle, president, Riddle & Associates, show management company. “We’re not seeing any cancellations for space. We are about 74 percent of our budget for exhibit space already. If we look at our hotel bookings on a comparison basis, we are down 4% from Las Vegas and bookings of rooms. But we have not done any promotion yet.”
Riddle says that inquiries both phone and Web are high. “It’s not doom and gloom. We’re pleased with what we’re seeing – we’re not getting any panic calls.” Still, the tumultuous economy has changed some plans. “We’ve seen some cutbacks in space,” says Riddle. “But there have also been other exhibitors taking larger space. So it’s about a wash.” Riddle maintains positive about the coming months and says that everything is running status quo with the show. However he adds, “Is that going to change? I don’t have that crystal ball. But, we’re actually very pleased with where we are right now considering what is going on in the world and we are getting a lot of international inquiries.”
