Attendance Up At Clean 2011

The Clean Show 2011 concluded on a very successful note with an increase in attendance and more exhibiting companies than Clean ’09.

Official attendance at Clean 2011, the fourday biennial trade show was 11,200, an increase of approximately 13 percent over Clean ’09 which was held in New Orleans and drew 9,902 people. Included in this year’s attendance were people from all 50 states and 1,978 people from 87 other countries. Six countries had 90 or more in attendance compared to Clean ’09 which had 1,229 people from 72 other countries. The number of exhibiting companies was up more than 4 percent over Clean ’09, and total exhibit space was within about 4 percent of that show. Four-hundredthirty exhibiting companies showcased over 184,150 net square feet of floor space to the attendees.

Many exhibitors were very enthusiastic about the event that was held from June 6-9 in Las Vegas.

“There’s always a great amount of anticipation with a show that’s every other year so we were very pleased by the turnout, larger than in New Orleans and everyone seemed eager to find out what’s new,” said Bob Dunne, President, MOD. “The Sortasaurus sorting table we introduced at the show drew a lot of interest and a number of orders and our nonremovable cart shelf system seems to have taken hold as a real alternative to removable shelves. We had customers who bought them at the last Clean show order more at our booth in Vegas. Overall, I don’t think we experienced a slow point at our booth until the last day and we’re drawing up our new booth for 2013.”

Rick Kelly, Vice President of Marketing and Sales Administration at Pellerin Milnor also commented on the successful show. “Our booth was very active, thanks to interest in our products on display, particularly the 30022 V8Z high speed 60 lb. washer-extractor with MilTouch™ touchscreen control and the CBW® tunnel with PulseFlow® Technology. We thought it was a very good show, but the real measure of our successes is down the road when the expressed interest of quality attendees translates into machinery orders,” he said.

Clean 2011 Chair David Cotter, CEO of the Textile Care Allied Trades Association, spent much of the show walking the floor and speaking with exhibitors. “The feedback I received was nearly unanimous,” stated Cotter, “‘Phenomenal,’ ‘best quality leads,’ ‘best show in a decade,’ ‘just like the old days,’ were just some of the remarks I heard from exhibitors. A consistent theme running through these comments was the high level quality of attendees and their readiness to purchase.”

John Riddle, president of Riddle & Associates, the show’s management agency added, “Based on exhibitor comments, people really came ready to buy.”

But attendees did more than buy at this year’s Clean show. Clean 2011 attendees were rewarded with an expanded educational program. This year, more than 40 hours of classroom education were presented including Korean language seminars for the first time. Many sessions overflowed to standing room only.

At a press conference during Clean 2011, the show’s sponsors unveiled venues for the next three Clean Shows. New Orleans is the site of Clean 2013. In response to some exhibitor and attendee feedback, for the first time since 1981 this will be a three-day show, June 21-23. Clean 2015 will be in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center April 17-19. Las Vegas will host the show again June 19-21, 2017.

The Clean Show is sponsored by five national industry associations: Association for Linen Management, Coin Laundry Association, Drycleaning & Laundry Institute, Textile Care Allied Trades Assoc-iation and Textile Rental Services Association of America.

The World Educational Congress for Laundering and Drycleaning, the show’s formal name, attracts every facet of textile care and textile rental services — retail, commercial, coin/card, institutional, and industrial laundering and drycleaning. It is the world’s largest exhibition of textile care products featuring working equipment.
