LAUNDRYESP Update - Conservation Program Gets Ready To Release Results

For the last four years, LaundryESP, an environmental stewardship program run jointly by Uniform & Textile Service Association (UTSA) and Textile Rental Services Association of America (TRSA,) has asked members to voluntarily reduce water and energy consumption in their laundry plants by ten to twenty percent, increase the use of environmentally friendly wash chemicals by the same amount, and reduce the discharge of pollutants to sewer systems.

Tunnel washers began production in the mid 1970's. Initially, they were designed as a tube where the linen was fed in a rope-like fashion. Linen passed through several treatment baths accomplishing the wash process. Water was fed in a counter flow arrangement to the linen and chemicals were added through a hollow tube with a cup on the dip end.

Saving Water and Energy At The University Of Delaware

NEWARK, Del. -- Faced with a five-year state-wide drought as well as sky-rocketing utility costs, the University of Delaware has taken a proactive stance in energy conservation.

With 55 new retrofitted laundry rooms, the University is spearheading a conservation effort which puts them in a position to save 3.5 million gallons of water per year and 769,000 kilowatts of electricity per year - enough energy to light every household in Newark for three weeks.

Lapauw Acquired By Private Investor

BELGIUM — Lapauw and its affiliate Lapauw France have been acquired by Mr. Philippe D’heygere for an undisclosed amount. The Belgian based manufacturer of industrial laundry equipment officially announced that it has recently sold its rights to Mr. Philippe D’heygere, a successful international entrepreneur with special interests in global expansion.

“I have worked with the Lapauw family for 46 years. Following my first meeting with the new owner, I feel very confident that this agreement will provide the experience and resources needed to expand into new markets and bolster support to our existing distributors and customers,” said Andre Henrard, Export Manager for the countries outside Europe. The current management will remain active and no personnel change is expected.

In a joint statement to their distributors, the Lapauw family announced “Mr. D’heygere has international expertise and will reinforce the position of the Lapauw Group as a successful worldwide leader of premier laundry equipment.”
