Energy-efficient processes and ethical procurement the driving forces of change in the sector

FRANKFURT, Germany — One of the main objectives of industrial textile care is sustainable economic development. Successful businesses depend on efficient plants and machinery, coupled with effective processes and durable textiles. In 2012, Texcare International in Frankfurt am Main, held from May 5- 9, will concentrate on sustainability.

Approximately 250 exhibitors will illuminate the numerous facets that constitute responsible textile care, e.g., resource conservations, waste reduction, energy efficiency, ecological methods, sustainable products and ethical production.

Topics taking center stage will include cutting energy costs, green detergents and washing additives, and sustainable products.

To compensate for the constant increase in the price of energy, the mechanical-engineering industry presents new solutions and innovations at Texcare International. Many new developments in the field of energy consumption will be exhibited.

Sustainability is also a subject of great importance for manufacturers of detergents and washing additives. Other important issues at the fair in May will include ecologically harmless ‘green’ detergents, washing and impregnating agents.

Contract textiles, workwear and protective clothing have been subject to the principle of sustainability since only durable products tailored to the demands of the sector guarantee optimum processing and a long service life, as well as prevent defects and avoid unnecessary waste. At the initiative of various bodies including the Association of the Textile Service Industry in Frankfurt am Main, the sustainability debate has been expanded to embrace another facet – the corporate social responsibility of manufacturers, importers and wholesales who ensure that international ethical and social standards are maintained across the entire textile chain.
